Proposed permanent location

We’ve been continuing our efforts to secure a permanent home for Sligo Miniature World, with attention focused on the former Irish Rail depot area in Sligo town. Because of its railway history and location, it stands out as a strong potential spot for the project.

Over the past while, contact has been made with local officials as well as CIÉ - the owner of this site, and the Department of Transport to explore the possibility of using the depot as the permanent location for Sligo Miniature World.

To help show the idea more clearly, we prepared a visualisation image. This shows how the depot building could look while still respecting the character of the railway site.

The depot itself has long been part of Sligo’s transport story, and the idea is to build on that heritage. By adapting the existing structure, we want to create a space where visitors could experience Ireland in Miniature while still being connected to the history of the railway in the town.

Work on the project continues in the meantime, and discussions with the relevant organisations are ongoing. We’ll continue to share updates as things progress.

Follow the journey.
